This section is dedicated to Linux on PINE64 devices. Select your device and the fix or improvement you wish to learn more about. You are also welcome to add any fixes or improvement for any of the avaialbe Linux operating system on any PINE64 device. If your submission relates to a particular OS image then please clearly denote which distro the fix or improvement is meant for. If the fix is applicable to all distributions available on the device then mark the fix or improvement accordingly.

You are welcome to contribute by submitting external links or creating a Wiki article about the subject at hand; the latter is preferred as it assures that your submission will remain accessible to community members indefinitely. Accepted formats of submissions include:

  • A Link to a post on the forum, blog, git instructions, etc.,
  • A link to an article
  • A new entry to the Wiki
  • A link to a video or audio file with project instructions
  • Links to documents (e.g. Google docs, PDFs, etc,.) of images hosted on Google Drive, Imgur, etc,.
  • A combination of two or more of the above

Please do not submit hardware fixes or improvements in this section - there is a dedicated section of the Wiki tackling hardware issues.

Pinebook

Ubuntu Mate 16.04 Speaker Volume

A simple improvement to increase speaker volume on the stock Ubuntu Mate OS Image that ships with the Pinebook. Submitted by Xalius

Auto mute / unmute speakers using headphones

A quick fix to mute and unmute speakers when plugging in earphones on stock Ubuntu Mate OS Image - script submitted by kasramp.

Screen flickering

Make sure to update your Image to the newsest release of pre-release image

In /boot/uEnv.txt edit one of the following modes: pinebook_lcd_mode=batch1 or pinebook_lcd_mode=batch2. Save uEnv.txt and reboot.

Palm rejection/ disable trackpad while typing

A clever script by daid that temporarily disables the trackpad while typing; its acts as palm rejection. It works really well and is suitable for all Pinebook Linux OS Images.

Firefox Improvements and Smooth Youtube playback

A number of fixes to improve FireFox performance and a VLC plugin for smooth 720p and 1080p youtube playback on the Pinebook. Suitable for all distributions. Submitted to the PINE64 forum by Luke.

SMPlayer Tweaks

Tweaks to improve high definition playback in SMPlayer. Suitable for all OS Images. Submitted by Luke in the PINE64 forum.
