Just wanted to add this somewhere because I couldn't find this info anywhere and took a punt ordering one, without knowing if it would work!! I'm not sure how to incorporate it properly because this breaks wiki style rules and I am new to Pine64 culture

== Cricket dropping support for 3G and PinePhone in general ==

I tried to get in contact with Cricket to activate my PinePhone with them and they are not supporting any new devices that do not support Cricket's High Definition Voice network. This is a very recent change that was made. Current users (including PinePhone users I presume) using Cricket will be supported until February 2022 when they depreciate it entirely. Attempting to swap an existing SIM card into a PinePhone will deactivate the line entirely and it will have to be reactivated by Cricket support.

A note:
The below is still relevant to describe the conditions under which I tested existing carriers.

I live in Tel Aviv, Israel. I received my Pinephone on May 7 -21.

I Successfully replaced Manjaro (untested) with a flaky alpha stage PmOS Sxmo yesterday, May 12 -21.

I have so far tried 6 different Carriers that registered with repeated flooding of UTF-8 error messages on Sxmo. into full reception bars. (Hebrew is generally Iso 8859 or similar charset)

I called My Pinephone from a seventh virtual network carrier SIM on an older Samsung Galaxy that I left untested for reasons of keeping SIM integrity.intact.

Sxmo will show an incoming call number as notification on top of page covering the notification bar completely.

(No ring signal. Only vibrator works. albeit speaker passed postmarketOS factory test repeatedly earlier. - I suspect volume control goes to zero by default or similar.)

-Asking the user in fine print if user wants to pick up the incoming call. Sxmo will then fail to answer the call with a permission denied error. Sxmo will later show you a reminder of missed calls.

The five Carrier SIM cards that registred by sending SMS service messages and also received an incoming call notification ok are:

Cellcom Prepaid Israel, (A main 4g network developer and operator

Golan Telecom Prepaid. (A virtual network carrier and operator.)

Partner Prepaid, former Orange, Israel (and another main 4g operator.)

Pelephone Prepaid A 4g only Operator.

Hot Mobile Prepaid, a budget main carrier.

019 is a virtual operator relying on Cellcom.
It registered on myPinephone with full bar reception, but without receiving either SMS or incoming call notifications.

Listing non-working carriers is useful, because other users can avoid unnecessarily spending time on testing with these carriers.
For example, I have tested Vodafone Hungary. It doesn't work at all. I don't know if anyone has tested it before, because there is no info about it in this page. So I had to spend time testing it. I can't add the test result to this page, because it only lists working providers. So other users might unnecessarily test it too.

VoIP-service. Customer service said they require Android 4.3+, and their free calling and texting works only with the Google Play app they make you use. So calls and texts don't work with non-smart phones and won't work with the PinePhone (even though it is a smart phone) because of software incompatibility. However, the data part still work if APN has been seen correctly set to '''fp.com.attz'''. You get 200MB free data per month. However, please watch out that you will get ding by $20 top up charge when over 200MB limit.
